Kernza® is a relative of wheat which grows year-round. By mimicking the perennial native prairie, Kernza® protects and builds healthy soils, improves nutrient retention, increases water infiltration, and has the potential to sequester carbon.
As a perennial, Kernza®’s root structure is not tilled up each season. It develops much longer, continuously living roots than annual wheat. For more information on Kernza®, visit Kernza.org.
Sustain-A-Grain works with farmers from across the Great Plains who are growing Kernza®. We connect buyers of all kinds to the appropriate types, qualities, and quantities of Kernza® grain. We arrange processing, delivery logistics, quality testing, and other handling considerations.
